On December 4, students performed to a crowd of thrilled parents, visitors, and employees at the Massachusetts State House. Kindergarten students wowed the audience with spirited renditions of classic holiday songs while family members filmed.
The Dudamel String Orchestra showcased their work on “Suite Boricua,” which will be performed at the Celebrity Series: Dorchester Stringfest on Saturday, December 14 at the Kroc Center. The work, which takes its title from the Indigenous name for the Island of Puerto Rico, is a medley of Puerto Rican melodies arranged by cellist and performer Aristides Rivas of the Voci Angelica Trio.
When the Dudamel Wind Ensemble took the stage, students from Wellesley Middle School, who had performed earlier that morning, peered through the windows of the Great Hall on their tour and began dancing to “The Final Countdown” and “Afro Blue.”
