On Monday to launch our Portrait of an Artist expedition, Frida Kahlo (Resident Artist Leah Hennessey) came to visit the K1 classes. We learned about where Frida is from (Coyoacan, Mexico), what language she speaks, what tools she uses, and what inspires her to paint.
Then we went on a gallery walk and discussed her paintings while listening to music from Mexico. 
After the gallery walk we discussed how the paintings made us feel and why. Today we are celebrating by making one of Frida’s favorite foods: guacamole!
