The Listening Project connects musicians of the future to music of the past. Over the course of the year, each classroom studies 30 songs in the cannon of a particular genre.
Through active listening, students gain an appreciation for and knowledge of music across ages, genres, and cultures; indentify instruments and vocal parts in musical pieces; identify within musical genres key composers, songwriters, styles, and pieces; define and relate musical terms to musical pieces, such as tempo, beat, rhythm, and forte; and identify structural components of music, such as sonata, notations, and concert.
