Admissions

Conservatory Lab Charter School is open to all students in Massachusetts. No tests or other requirements are necessary. Only follow the application process as outlined below.

Applying for Admission

  • All applications must be received with required documents by March 1, 2012. Late or incomplete applications will not be considered for admission.
  • A lottery will be held if more applications are received than there are seats available. The lottery for 2012 will be held in March. A waiting list is composed after all classes are filled.
  • Siblings of enrolled students are given preference for admission as seats are available.
  • Conservatory Lab gives first preference to students from the City of Boston.
  • There is no need to reapply once a family has been placed on the waiting list. Students on the waiting list hold their place and roll over each year.
  • Every effort is made to contact families when a seat becomes available. It is the families’ responsibility to notify the school of any changes in their contact information.

Thank you for your interest in the Conservatory Lab. We have completed all of the tours we will be offering for Spring 2012. Please check back in the Fall as we will open tour dates at that time.

Frequently Asked Questions

How do I fill out an application?

Applications can be picked up in the main office and the North Zone Family Resource Center or downloaded from the school website.

Two proofs of residency must be provided upon submission of all applications. Completed applications are due March 1st. Only completed applications will be entered into the lottery.

What is the lottery process?

Entry into the Conservatory Lab Charter School is gained through public lottery, which takes place the second Wednesday in March.

Each application is assigned an ID number to maintain anonymity in the lottery process.

Applications are drawn at each grade level. Sibling applications have priority and are processed first.

How will we know if we were accepted?

Accepted students will be notified within two weeks of the lottery. Waitlisted students will also receive a letter with their waitlist number.

How does the wait list work?

Students not accepted are placed on the wait list until a space becomes available within the school year. In order to stay on the wait list, families must indicate from year to year that they are interested.

When a position is open, families are contacted in order of their wait list placement.

Families are responsible for calling the school with address/phone/email updates.

What is the registration process?

Accepted families will receive a letter confirming admission.  They will have 7 business days to return the letter, indicating whether they accept or decline.

Families will attend a mandatory orientation in the spring and receive registration packets.

Completed registration packets should be dropped off by a parent/guardian, in person, by the due date.
